Guide To Recognizing Your Saints - DVD Review

This is a powerful and emotional account of real life. It’s a young man’s struggle to cut his roots and
move on in the hopes of leaving a dysfunctional fucked up life behind.
Sometimes you have to be okay with saving you.
I think this is the best movie I have ever seen. It’s not just about the screenplay or the music. That is
fabulous all by itself, though.
What hooked me was that during the extremely powerful scenes they would go from screaming to silence
while still showing video. Other times they would go from screaming to black and then back to the scene
full of screaming. It really stood out. When I asked myself why that made the movie so powerful I realized
that it’s because the silence (or black) gives you time to really absorb or truly feel what’s going on. Things
sink in deeper.
This is a harsher movie. Not at all something for chideren.
Well known cast:
Shia Labeouf
Robert Downey JR.
Dianne Wiest
Chazz Palminteri
Eric Roberts/very brief appearance
Everyone was great in this movie but Shia Labeouf was outstanding. That is really hard for me to wrap my
mind around because I spent years watching him in Even Stevens. I am astounded.
