I have read many books. I grew up reading Dean Koontz. I read Phantoms when I was in the fifth grade and had nightmares for weeks to come.
I never read an autobiographical type of novel until after I had written mine, and I am so glad. The autobiographical type novels I have attempted to read were not very interesting. These were some of my favorite actresses, but the words on the pages were like a sedative.
This novel, Roseannearcy, is fabulous. I wish I had read some of Roseanne Barr’s stuff earlier. I was reading in bed the other night and was laughing so hard I thought I was going to wake my son up. It was 3 AM, mind you.
Roseanne is the queen of touching on serious issues while making you laugh at the same time. She is so in-your-face honest that it absolutely killed me. She is a little warped, but I believe that is why I loved this so much.
It was refreshing to hear someone else give the voice from within, the voice of God, the voice in her head a platform. Whatever you see that voice as, most people don’t talk about it. I think we all have that voice. Dear Miss God, if we don’t all have it I hope I get brownie points for sharing mine.
I highly recommend this novel to any woman who has a sense of adventure, sense of humor and/or sense of irony. Roseanne will not disappoint.
Rosanne talks a lot about the issues of the world today and back in the 70s even. It’s funny how simple the solutions seem to be. Why do we always have to make things so complicated? Can’t we take the straightest line possible from point A to point B?
Working with mostly men (about 98% of the workforce -in my department- at my place of employment is male), I see her point. I spend a lot of my time being frustrated. The simple solutions are right in front of us. But the path taken seems to be the hardest with the smallest payoff. So many men with so many different opinions. It would go so much smoother if they just listened to me because I’m singly smarter than they are collectively. LMFAO!
